CARRETERAS COMARCALES 16/03/2019 SECONDARY ROADS

El clima es una locura por no decirlo de otra manera. Todavía es invierno y estamos disfrutando de un día de verano. Debemos aprovechar la situación y salir a dar un paseo.

The weather is crazy not to say it in another way. It is still Winter and we are enjoying a Summer day. Anyway, we must take advantage of the situation and go out for a ride. 

Nos reunimos con Miguel y nos fuimos. Una breve parada para desayunar a media mañana en Grado nos daría la fuerza necesaria para una ruta larga y exigente diseñada para evitar las carreteras principales y el tráfico.

We gathered with Miguel and off we went. A brief mid-morning stop for breakfast at Grado would give us the necessary strength for a long and demanding route designed to avoid main roads and traffic.

Una visita a un molino que nosotros consideramos uno de los mejores de Asturias.

A visit to a water-mill that we consider one of the finest in Asturias.

Un montón de kilómetros y sólo unas pocas fotos son siempre un signo de un día bien aprovechado.

A lot of miles and only a few photos is always a sign of a day well enjoyed.

CASCADAS Y NIEVE 02/03/2019 WATERFALLS AND SNOW

Marzo comenzó con el mismo buen clima que febrero, así que decidimos hacer una ruta larga. Nuestro destino sería León, nuestra provincia vecina. Una breve parada en Puente de los Fierros para estirar las piernas y verificar si el Belén que colocamos allí hace un tiempo sigue en pie. Y ahí estaba.

March began with the same good weather as February did so we decided to go for a long route. Our destination would be León, our neighbouring province.

A brief stop at Puente de los Fierros to stretch the legs and check if the Nativity Scene we placed there a while ago still stands. And there it was.

Luego fuimos al primer punto del orden del día. La cascada de Nocedo de Curueño. Un lugar mágico del que nunca te aburrirás.

Then we went to the first main spot of the day. The Nocedo de Curueño waterfall. A magical place that you never get bored of.

El segundo lugar a visitar fue la cascada de Forfogones, que estaba en su mejor momento.

The second place to visit was the Forfogones waterfall which was at its peak.

Después de eso y en nuestro camino de regreso a casa cruzamos el puerto de Las Señales. Fue un paseo absolutamente delicioso atravesar las montañas nevadas en un día soleado y con buena temperatura.

After that and in our way back home we crossed the Las Señales mountain pass. It was an absolutely delicious ride through the snowed mountains with lovely sunshine and warm temperature.

Ya estamos un poco cansados, así que vamos a descansar un poco en la cueva Deboyu.

We are a bit tired by now so let us pull over to rest a bit at Deboyu cave.

Un muy buen comienzo para el último mes de invierno.

A very good start for the last month of Winter.

UN FIN DE SEMANA COMPLETO 23-24/02/2019 A COMPLETE WEEKEND

Como dije en la entrada anterior, febrero ha sido sorprendentemente bueno para el motociclismo. En ese fin de semana en particular, las condiciones eran absolutamente perfectas. El sábado fuimos a Brieves con nuestro amigo Miguel.

As I said in the previous entry February has been surprisingly good for motorcycling. On that particular weekend, the conditions were absolutely perfect. On Saturday we went to Brieves with our friend Miguel.

Allí admiramos el pequeño pueblo y sus característicos puentes. Estos puentes estaban destinados a conectar la casa y el Horreo. El área, muy cerca de un río solía estar inundada, y esta característica particular permitía a los aldeanos un tránsito seco entre la casa y el Horreo.

There we admired the small village and its characteristic bridges.
These bridges were meant to connect the house and the corn-crib. The area, very close to a river used to be flooded and this particular feature allowed the villagers a dry transit from the house to the `Horreo´and back.

Desde allí nos dirigimos al Monasterio de Santa María La Real de Obona.

From there we headed to the Santa Maria La Real de Obona Monastery.

Un lugar lleno de historia donde incluso se pueden ver restos humanos.

A full of history place where you can even see human remains.

El domingo decidimos aprovechar las excelentes condiciones climáticas y nos dirigimos al puerto de El Ponton.

On Sunday we decided to take advantage of the excellent weather conditions and off we went to El Ponton mountain pass.

Sin duda un fin de semana perfecto.

A perfect weekend indeed.
