In the middle of a hard winter we had the opportunity to ride. With our friends Enrique and Tere we made the first stop in Vilaviciosa where we saw this beauty
All day we had the threat of rain but fortunately we returned home dry
I chose a route which would lead us to the WWII... In the Mazucu hill there is a memorial in which we can read the names of some airmen from Germany and we can also see a date... 1944
May 31, 1944. A Junkers Ju 290 A 7 crashed against the hill .. all the ten members of the crew died..
As the witnesses told, the plane was flying with a burning engine.. After an investigation it was found that the plane had signs of a dog fight against allied planes.
Sadly someone has destroyed the memorial.. but those jerks probrably don´t know that parts of the plane still are near the place where the plane crashed.
In this little chapel
If you look to the altar
you can see some silvery pieces surrounding the figure of Saint Antonio... these pices are in fact the last memory of those who lost their lives on duty
Why people do not respect the memory is something that I cannot understand... Does not matter if they fight for a evil regime.. as human beings they deserve to be remembered..
And that way we spend other day with the bikes.
