LAGOS DE COVADONGA 02/12/2018

Los vientos del sur han estado subiendo las temperaturas así que es hora de visitar los Picos de Europa. Qué mejor que Los Lagos de Covadonga.

South winds have been pushing up temperatures so it is time to pay a visit to Picos de Europa. What best than the Lagos de Covadonga lakes.

En los últimos años se ha vuelto más y más difícil subir. El gobierno ha decidido controlar el acceso al lugar estableciendo un sistema de transporte durante los fines de semana y festivos. Al principio sólo funcionaba en verano y los puentes pero las restricciones se han extendido hasta el punto en que ahora casi todos los fines de semana están prohibidos.

In recent years it has become more and more difficult to get there. Government officials have decided to control the access to the place establishing a regulated public transport system on weekends and bank holidays. Originally, it worked only during the Summer months and on long weekends but the restrictions have been extended to the point in which almost all weekends are now banned.

Para los que vivimos aquí y trabajamos toda la semana es muy decepcionante y uno no puede evitar ver sólo la parte negativa. La compañía que opera los autobuses aumenta sus ganancias y las excusas de proteger el medio ambiente no convencen a nadie.

For those of us living here and working all week, this is very disappointing and one can't help but see the dark side of it. The private company that runs the buses is increasing its profits and the environment protection excuses don't convince anyone.

Este día pudimos ver el nuevo sistema de barreras y vídeo cámaras que han instalado. Realmente malas noticias.

This particular day we could see the new system of barriers and video cameras they have instaled.  Really bad news.

Con todo esto en mente tratamos de disfrutarlo como si fuese la última vez.
Nos salimos en Villaviciosa para una estupenda merienda y un agradable paseo antes de volver a casa. Una ruta estupenda sin duda.

With all that in mind, we tried to savour it as if it was the last time.
We pulled out at Villaviciosa for a nice tea and a pleasant stroll before coming back home. A nice ride out indeed.

MOTO NUEVA 22/09/2019 NEW BIKE

Nuestro amigo Miguel había comprado una nueva moto recientemente y diseñamos una estupenda ruta para probarla como es debido. El tiempo fue perfecto y disfrutamos mucho de los majestuosos puertos escogidos.

Our friend Miguel had purchased a new bike recently and we designed a fabulous route to test it properly. Weather conditions were excellent and we enjoyed a lot going through those majestic mountain passes.

Decidimos comer en el alto del puerto de Panderrueda. Una vez allí no pudimos evitar subir andando hasta el mirador que domina el valle.

We chose an amazing spot for lunch the Panderrueda's mountain pass peak. Been there, of course, we couldn't help but going up towards the overlook that stands over the valley.

Es hora de continuar disfrutando de las estupendas carreteras para llegar al siguiente mirador.

Time to take more twisted roads towards the next overlook.

Este oso es internacionalmente conocido en el mundo motero.

This bear is internationally known in the motorcycle scene.

Slow tuvo tiempo de jugar en tan estupendo lugar.

Slow had time to play fetch in such a lovely place.

Para terminar el estupendo día  nos despedimos de Miguel y nos dirigimos al santuario de Covadonga para disfrutar un hermoso espectáculo de luces proyectado sobre la fachada de la basílica en conmemoración de los tres centenarios del Real sitio.

To put a good end to a great day, we said goodbye to Miguel and headed towards the Covadonga shrine to see a beautiful light show projected over the facade of the basilica in commemoration of the three centenaries of the royal site.

AMIGOS INTERNACIONALES 09/04/2018 INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS

Desde que estamos involucrados en el Rally de Colombres hemos tenido la oportunidad de conocer gente estupenda. Este fin de semana nuestros amigos Jim, Roger y Linda vinieron a La Parra para unas mini vacaciones y fueron tan amables de invitarnos a comer y a salir de ruta juntos.

Since we are involved in the Colombres Rally we have had the opportunity to meet wonderful people. This weekend our friends Jim, Roger and Linda came to La Parra for a short vacation. They were so kind to invite us to have lunch together and afterwards we went out for a ride.

Conocen muy bien la zona pero aún hay algunos recónditos lugares que no conocían, así pues, fue un placer para mi llevarles a conocerlos. La primera parada fue Cobijero.

They know very well this area but there are still secluded places that they didn't know so it was my pleasure to take them there to take some photos. Firstly we went to Cobijero.

Una extraña playa.

Incluso hicimos un poco de espeleología.

We even did some speleology

Fue difícil pero parece que les gustó.

It was very tricky but they enjoyed it.

El lugar tiene varios puntos de interes.

The place has some interesting spots

Nuestra siguiente visita fue otra playa especial, Gulpiyuri.

Our next visit was another special beach, Gulpiyuri.

Y finalmente nos dirigimos a Covadonga.

And finally, we headed to Covadonga

Fue un gran día y les agradezco mucho su paciencia, me consta que es cansado escuchar mi mal inglés todo el día. Pero claro yo tengo que practicar jeje.

It was a great day out and I am very grateful for their patience. I am aware how draining it is listen to a non-native speaker all day inflicting his broken English on you.
